Public Health Development International, Inc. (PHD International, Inc.) is a public health company that identifies health issues and develops programs to address major public health and medical priorities for healthcare professional communities. Premed 101 - Introduction a Career in Medicine & Healthcare
Premed 101
(2-Day workshop) gives students an advantage by exposing them to the requirements of health professional studies, study techniques to improve performance, and hands-on learning activities [2 -day program, in summer or 10-day program during school year] Future Doctors Program
(New mini-course) provides students with a comprehensive review of pre-health professional studies and requirements. Students will develop health appropriate analytical skills for effective preparation in professional education (medicine, nursing, optometry, podiatry, dentistry, and veterinary medicine, pharmacy, and chiropractic sciences), allied health, and public health which will include a comprehensive premed course with at least one (1) clinical visit. We will also discuss required exams such as the MCAT (medical), VCAT, (veterinary), DAT (dentistry), PCAT (pharmacy), and LSAT (law). [10-weeks, continuing education credits, may be available]
Premedical Clinical Internship (for College Students)
is an advanced pre-health professional program for freshman, sophomore, and junior college students (registered in pre-health professional concentration programs) that offers students a unique opportunity to participate in a one to three month internship that is preceded by didactic training on medical concepts and diagnostic techniques. Students will attend rounds and direct patient care activities. Students are assigned to up to thee Medical Mentors that will provide different clinical internship opportunities.
Premedical Apprenticeship Program
Premedical Apprenticeship Program
allows students to learn essential medical concepts and work alongside medical students (other professional students), interns and clinicians to see medicine and healthcare from the health professional students view
Honor Society
Sigma Beta Chi
Clinical Sciences & Public Health Honors Society - is a national honors society for students and professionals interested in medicine, nursing, and allied health as a service to the public. Sigma Beta Chi requires the following: minimum GPA 3.2 (for at least 2 semesters) with 500 hours of medical community service (direct patient care support (i.e., Burn Units, Intensive Care Units, Pediatric Cancer Wards, Geriatrics, and chronic disease inpatient facilities) that provide support to patients that traditionally have a low visitation rate.
Summer Camps
(3 week summer camp) offers serious students the opportunity to participate in more advanced training in medicine, public health, and research to address major health issues such as bioterrorism.
(2 week summer camp) a terrific and fun way to have a summer camp for student interested in careers in healthcare. This summer camp combines residental dormitory living, with summer activities and learning important concepts that will help make your decisions easier.
Premed Public Health Summer will be available Summer 2008.
International Public Health and Medical Congress
International Public Health and Medical Congress (IPHMC) - The International Public Health and Medical Congress (IPHMC) is a multi-national group of public health and healthcare professionals that join with outstanding student leaders, who have displayed academic excellence, extracurricular involvement, and leadership potential in the field of public health to evaluate public health and medical policy issues and act as liaisons for the U.S. Congress and international aid organizations.
