Medical history teaches us why medicine is the way it is today. It also gives a renewed perspective of how medicine evolves into the practice of healthcare that we currently see.
Questions:
1. What role did the religion have to do with the training and practice of medicine?
2. Surgeons are considered some of the highest trained and most respected doctors. What is the history of surgery?
3. How is Joseph Lister and William Morton and what was their importance to medicine?
Every medical student (and most nursing students) have to take the same basic classes. Students can take these classes at a 4-year college or a community college.

2. Can you prepare in high school for medical school? How?
Every doctor or health professional needs to know what nurses do. This section will require you to find out the responsibility of the following nursing positions: registered nurse (RN), nurse practitioner, nurse midwife, license practical nurse, and nurse anesthetist.
1. How is a RN different than a nurse practitioner? Why are they important to the care of patients?
2. Nurses can specialize. Explain the differences between a nurse midwife and nurse anesthetist.
3. Many say that nurses are the cornerstone to medical care. Why do they make this statement?

Watch the Medical School film called "2nd year Medical School ". This film is 10 minutes in length, so make sure you watch the movie when you have the time.
